Leisure and Spa

In September,
the Belfry’s Leisure Club came together to support a worthy cause, raising £800
for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Members of the Leisure Club and Belfry staff took
part in a two-hour Spinning class, filled with energy and intensity.
Participants pedaled hard, pushing themselves throughout the session, driven by
a shared commitment to help young people battling cancer. Thanks to the
dedication and enthusiasm of our members and staff, we are proud to have made a
significant contribution to this important cause.<o:p></o:p>

The Finance and Spa teams joined forces to sell raffle tickets, offering exciting prizes for participants to win. Thanks to their efforts and the generosity of everyone involved, they successfully raised £126, which will be donated to our chosen charities: MND, Teenage Cancer Trust and Hospitality Action. These funds will help support the vital work each of these organisations does in making a difference in people's lives.

We supported the students in increasing and developing knowledge and skills in the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality sector. We provided coaching them around interviews, CV writing and gave them on job experience in different departments in the resort. This was the third year we have partnered with the BMet. These partnerships are so important for us as the students begin their careers in the best industry.

The hotel hosted the Springboard Midlands Hospitality
Takeover Day with numerous schools from across the Midlands, 120 students
taking part, learning from their amazing team on all aspects of hospitality
with insight in mocktail making, gala service, towel art, chef tasting session
and a tour of this stunning venue. This has been an incredibly valuable insight
in what the hospitality industry has to offer. <o:p></o:p><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p>



Springboard help disadvantaged and unemployed people all
ages, backgrounds and walks of life to fall in love with hospitality, leisure
and tourism, and gain the skills, knowledge and experience needed to flourish
in a lifelong career within these amazing industries.<o:p></o:p>

days prior to World Mental Health Day, employees from the Belfry Hotel &amp; Resort together with other hospitality businesses from Birmingham walked 20km
around Birmingham. The walk took in green spaces such as the scenic Edgbaston
Reservoir, it covered parts of Digbeth, the city's creative quarter and it passed
through some of Birmingham's historic canal network.&nbsp;The <span style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; color: rgb(17, 17, 17); background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;">Walk for
Wellbeing is all about bringing people together to promote better mental health
and wellbeing across our industry, whilst supporting the vital work of
Hospitality Action at the same time.&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>

During the month of September, departments and employees got
together and held their own fundraising activities, including a bake sale and
selling Belfry made scratch cards. In total, Team Belfry has raised a
staggering £9,142.11 to support our 3 partner charities. This breaks down to £2.3k
from the team fundraising competitions and £6.8k from the Belfry Auction.<o:p></o:p>

annual Macmillan coffee morning and the money raised will support Macmillan’s vital work. It helps to fund tjeir
amazing Macmillan nurses, answer calls on their Support Line, give financial
support, and more.<o:p></o:p>

From the 9th till 19th June 2023 the Belfry has taken part in
Hospitality Action Summer Challenge to help raise funds for our partner
charity, who do incredible work to support our industry. Our team have been running, walking, cycling and swimming
to clock up the miles, to achieve a total of 1,734 miles, finishing 3rd in the
UK. We have raised an incredible £2,125 for Hospitality
Action, all whilst celebrating the joys that hospitality brings to our lives!&nbsp;<o:p></o:p>

Belfry SWAP is for F&amp;B entry level roles, we did it in
partnership with the DWP and Pet-xi who are a training and apprenticeship
provider. They enroll young people who are not currently working but interested
in a career in hospitality, and deliver a week’s worth of training in the
basics of hospitality (which we have been able to help shape). We provided a
meeting room to them for this, before providing a week’s worth of on-site, on
the job training, with a guaranteed interview at the end. The idea behind it
was to help people in their early careers get their first roles in the
industry, and we made several successful hires through the programme.<o:p></o:p>
